A little over halfway up the glass... tank isn't leaking and it's not a super big chip. Standard 29g tank. Hit it with a plate (lol). I took off the chip (was attached to the silicone on outside). Inside seal is fine so it shouldn't be a problem.. right?

From the looks of it, it appears to be alright, but that's just my personal opinion you need to make that judgement call yourself lol

It's "probably" ok. I would keep using it, but I would also keep an eye on it. If it spreads/cracks at all further you should swap it out. I had a tank with a chip in it very similar to that years ago. Never had a problem, but of course it's at your own risk.

Thanks. I saw some other posts with chipped glass and this isn't as nearly as bad as those haha. It's a circled chip, so I doubt it will crack and it is not very deep. Hopefully goes well!

This!

Got a 20H that has been in use in one form or another for 10 years since it chipped.

Be careful when you clean the glass inside the tank near that chip. Force applied in the area could cause the fracture to spread.
You are probably ok, just be careful and keep plates away from now on. :)

I would have to agree with @andrewkw. For $29 you will sleep better at night. Why even take the risk even though it's probably "ok"?
As thin as the glass is on those smaller tanks a crack appearing from that chip would turn into disaster before you knew it had the crack. JMO

this. Could be OK, but replace it eitherway. You don't want to wake up / come home to a disaster

Id replace it. This could cause so much stress in the future, its just not worth it.

I think it's fine.

But as mentioned previously, if PETCO is running their $1 per gallon sale, for $29, you can replace it and have peace of mind. You can save the old tank for QT.

Agree it's not worth it.
