Hi all! I used to frequent these parts a couple of years ago. Since I shut down my reef tank, I’m not around much, although I do like to peek in sometimes.

Even though I no longer have a saltwater tank, I’m wondering if anyone can give me some advice about a chip in a freshwater tank I have. (Apologies if this isn’t in the right place!)

I set up this 20 gallon long freshwater last week. It is only for my rabbit snails. I used an old 20 gallon I had. I suspect in the course of rinsing it out and changing the substrate and setting it up, somehow I chipped it. Of course I only just noticed this little chip after setting it all up and moving all the grown-up snails and their babies over!

It’s about 1/4 inch chip maybe 2/3 down on the right front side of the tank. There doesn’t seem to be any crack. Do you think it’s safe to just wait and keep an eye on it? Is there anything I can use to make it stronger there? Or should I get a new tank?

Thank you all!

EDIT TO ADD: I'm sorry these pictures uploaded sideways. I've tried looking it up and I have no idea how to fix it.

I'd smooth some epoxy over it just for peace of mind

For a small tank like a 20 gallon, you should be fine. Additionally, its freshwater. I don't think you have a powerhead on full blast in there.
