Chip in tank

Thanks vetteguy pls send through much appreciated, was also thinking of getting a glassier to cut say 100mm of the top of all the panels while it’s apart as it’s pretty high anyway ?? 600mm to 500mm to avoid any risk ??

can you drain it and replace the seal?
I see this as medium risk and would do a re-seal and can send you easy instructions.
Guys, I have resiliconed A LOT of the old standard tanks, I consider myself pretty good at it. But in my experience I remove ALL the old silicon from the whole tank and redo the whole thing. I would be interested to know how you guys are repairing just one seam or one section of a seam. @vetteguy53081 , if you have instructions I'd be thrilled to see them, just so I know for the future.

@hiall As others have said, it's your tank, it's your house, and you need to be comfortable with the tank you're running. I DO NOT want to encourage you to do something we may both regret....

But when I look at those pics, I see an unfortunate, but largely cosmetic and not catastrophic chip. I would personally fill it with fresh water and watch it and go from there. But admittedly, my bar for "questionable tanks" is a lot higher than most, so please use your best judgement.

I think just last night I saw a similar post, and when I looked at that tank I thought it was hosed :-( I think the OP's tank here looks a lot better. Here's that other thread for comparison:

@hiall I do wish you the best with whatever you decide to do! Good luck!

You should have done a video call with Joe at Glass Cages when he asked you, for he is an Expert, you could have moved your phone or computer all around the damage, all you need is an internet or cell connection, I use to do video calls all the time when my wife was working in China, perfect video, much better then pictures.
I mean, with respect, what else would you expect Joe to do except to say that tank is compromised, and the OP should get another? As a pro, Joe isn't going to tell the OP to run that tank. Seems like a bit of a waste of time for both Joe and the OP, unless the OP was really considering a replacement tank from Glasscages.

Joe would give advice on the best way to repair it he thinks it can go that way, it's best to talk to a Pro on things like this.

OK, I can't speak for Joe, maybe he does know how to fix a chip on the exterior panel of the glass. I can't argue with seeking expert advice and I am certainly not an expert.
