Ok so I resealed my 75g and I leak tested it and no leaks but when I was draining the water today I noticed 2 match head size chips in the big pane right in the middle toward the top idk how it happened maybe during transit but idk how bad it is or can I just put that side in the back there only about paper deep and it's 1/2 glass

I had a chip in a 720 probably bigger than that on the bottom. But always a risk . I would think you will fine

Never worth the chance to me. Ive had a tank explode, and lose everything. Not to mention flood out the house. Not worth it to waste all the money on everything when you know there could be potential risk. To me this hobby success comes from eliminating all possibilities of failure as much as possible.

The willingness to take a chance depends on your situation. If I were in my own house, I would likely chance it. However, living in an apartment makes this a no go.

Is the effort to cleanup/replace all damaged/dead components worth the chance to you?

Is there anything I can do to minimize the chance of failure without replacing the whole pane

Nothing of which I am aware. My experience is when a chip is created, micro cracks are created along the break and take very little force to continue growing. Grandparents own an artistic glass shop and one method of infusing mirrors with design is edge chipping, almost the same as reefers try and avoid. Sometimes those chips continue and shatter the entire piece of glass. It's extremely hard to predict.

My thought is that it's only paper thin towards the top of the tank and I didn't think it would be a big dea

It may not be, but the chance of failure is something you'll need to consider and decide on yourself. I am only expressing the concern it could fail.

Telling you bro fix it while you got nothing invested in it. Just order another pane of glass and call it a day. Most nickle and dime hobby ever. You don't want to go through everything and get your tank perfect ect and then have to deal with that later you will hate yourself.

Half inch might be a little bit. 3/4 is when price really goes up. But look at it as all the money you could save by not killing your entire system if it does go. Also you will have the piece of mind.
