Chipped glass along bulkhead for overflow

Howdy y'all. As pictured, my tank has a chip where the bulkhead fitting for my overflow is which causes water to slowly leak when filled. Could I maybe use some epoxy and shape it with painters tape to fill it in? Any advice would be gre

atly appreciated.

Try the U.V. cured cyanoacrylate they use for windshield repairs. Kits are available online with the U.V. flashlight.

Or you can use silicone sealant. Allow 24 hours to dry set completely.

I can't tell if that's the water side or not, but I'm assuming you tried with a new rubber gasket?
If it's the dry side, maybe try with a new gasket on both sides. Normally this is not the way to go, but if the chip is a fatal flaw, anything might help.
I have had small chips not be a problem. Hard to tell how big that one is.
I would even try silicone around the base of the bulkhead fitting where it goes through the hole.


And as Lowell suggested maybe the U.V. cured cyanoacrylate they use for windshield repairs.

I don't think a epoxy would stick well to glass.

Thanks for the replies! It is not the water side. The bulkheads are in great shape so I don't know if a new gasket would work. So maybe instead of epoxy I'll apply some silicone and use the painter's tape to shape it until it solidifies.

Update, for anyone in the future that finds this thread: I went with JB Clear Weld, held it in place with painter's tape and sanded it smooth the next day. Seems to have worked great!
