Odd question But did I do something wrong to endup with so many chitons they seem to be now the most dominant species in the tank. I see them every where they've even out competed colinstia snails!

They reproduce
You can either manually remove or remove their food source

well I figured they reproduced but didn't think they would so quickly especially since there wasn't much in there for them to eat in the first place. I guess they just reproduce faster than everything else.

Question. My tank has exploded with them in the last couple months. Is there any secret to dislodging them from live rock? They seem bolted on. When you mentioned removing their food source, here’s my issue. They are stripping my rocks bare of corralline. Need these suckers out of there, rocks are Getting completely scoured. display is a 225 with commensurate level of rock.

Have you tried inserting a small flat-head screwdriver or knife under the girdle? They should come off.

Is there any particular reason that you're concerned about the coralline?

I like my rocks covered so that they are purple. the spots where the chitons scraped are as big as 2x4 inches that look like brand new live rock.
