Time for an update. The tanks are doing well. The anemones are getting very large and space is running out. It's a good thing that BTA are compatible with other types of anemones.

I added the Coralife marine hang on filter/protein skimmer which is loaded with carbon and filter floss. It is rated for up to 30 gallons which doesn't do much on my tanks. But it's a better way to house my carbon (using the ones from RO canisters even though i'm still on tap water). I also upgraded my powerheads to 6 Tunze turbelle 6055 on a wave controller. Just on short pulse mode from A to B.

Water changes are now up to once a week of 4 gallons. I can't keep up with the algae. I have never tested PO4 before, but nitrates always test at 0. Once a week I have to pull it off the egg crate (causing flow issues), and macro grows crazy on the rocks. I can't stick my hand in without gloves on as the anemone stings hurt too much.

I'm debating on upgrading to larger tanks, or just keep them as is. Larger tanks will give the fish more room but they also just stay in their anemones all the time. Also considering moving two pairs out into other systems, but don't really want anemones in the other systems.

Also considered adding some other type of fish to eat algae, but I think that's a death sentence with all the anemones.

Condy doing well, nobody hosting it anymore.

This poor green long tentacle went through a powerhead, then after recovering snuggled too close to a haddoni and got stung pretty bad. I now have it with the maroons. They haven't hosted it yet.

This bleached mag came in from Sri Lanka, hoping to see full recovery. There is already brown around the mouth.

Tan green tip color gigantea. The pink skunk call this one home now.

Haddoni's are hosting the saddles. They also moved around to be very ugly in front of the glass.

Of the 6 pairs of clownfish, only the Clarkii's are breeding.

Gah tank looks like crap when you see all the pictures and video. Nothing like my old SPS mixed reef. I think KISS works but after two years with limited filtration/maintenance, its ugly to look at.

thanks dbraun15. You are one of those people who have always inspired me and taught me all I know about anemones over these years. Although indirectly, I became a stalker and read all your old posts on this and another old forum. Thank you for helping so many people and sharing your experiences with everyone.

Thanks...I've never really been a "big" poster...most of my information has come from guys like Orionn, D-Nak, Taylor T, and Bob Loblaw...those are the guys you should thank as their knowledge is way more that mine!

Made a big change. Removed the egg crate dividers and traded in the pair of Maroon and Tomatos. Now the Saddlebacks and Ocellaris are living together. I'll take better pictures when everything is open and out. Most of the anemones are hiding right now.

I removed the protein skimmers as they did not do much. Gotta find a way to hide the large carbon bag. I've been debating on downsizing to a Red Sea Max 250.

You have created a beautiful system. Going back to the first post and to see what the system has become is impressive.

I am really thinking of pulling the plug on my second tank with the giant gigantea and shoving everything into tank #1. It's taking me about 3 hrs a week to maintain both tanks, and I'm starting to burn out.

Probably keep the pink skunk but get rid of the clarkii. That will be 3 pairs in one 55 gallon tank. The majority of the display is just the rock which is about 150 lbs. I could break off the anemones and really fill up the space. When things grow too big (e.g., mertensii), then upgrade again.

When I get a carpet anemone, I'd like to do something like this (link) with a nano. Maybe you could do something similar. It would probably be easier to maintain a small tank and you could probably keep your other pair of clowns.

Well I pulled the plug and gave away my clarkii pair. Lots of chiselling of rock and everything is in one tank. That is 8/10 hosting anemone species plus two Caribbean’s. The ritteri is isolated in treatment and I don’t have a adhesive pizza carpet anymore.

There was lots of aggression when the fish were put together, but they have established the hierarchy now. Lots of CUC. A tuxedo urchin was to take care of macro alagae but so far it’s just eating all the Coraline.
