@Randy Holmes-Farley and others I'm curious on your thoughts here. I know that my local water supply uses chloramines to disinfect the water supply. I am also suspicious that this may be getting past my RODI unit and could be causing issues with SPS.

Since my water supply uses chloramines (I am making the assumption that this would be the predominant part of total chlorine) would it be prudent to test my final makeup water (post DI) with a total chlorine test kit? Or do you think I need a test kit that would test both free and total chloramines. FYI my TDS reads about 0.2ppm with a COM-100 TDS meter post DI.

I certainly don't want to break the bank for this but I've looked at Lamotte Total chlorine test strips, Lamotte Free and total chlorine test strips, Hanna ULR Total Chlorine Checker, and the Hach CN-70 that you recommended in your chloramines article. Not sure how accurate those test strips are.

Any cheap chlorine kit is fine for this purpose.

Something like the CN70 is only needed to distinguish chlorine from chloramine. For your purpose, both are bad. :)

Thanks Randy! The hypercritical side of me is going to go with the Hannah ULR checker so I can see values in ppb.
