I recently came across a reference to using hydrogen peroxide to remove chlorine from water. Will this work? And, if it does work, are their any nasty side effects that one should be concerned with?

Never heard this one but I know sodium thiosulfate will remove chlorine.

Are you wanting to use tap water in a reef?

Here's a discussion of hydrogen peroxide as a dechlorinating agent:

Thanks for the link!

No, I'm not using tap water. My previous attempts to culture microalgaes have failed, due no doubt to my failure to maintain any semblance of sterile conditions. I was thinking I could maybe sterilize smaller amounts of culture water with Clorox and then remove the chlorine with hydrogen peroxide.

Why not boil it to sterilize it?
The place where I would boil the water is in my kitchen on my first floor. The place where I would get my RODI water is in my basement, which is also where I'd be using the sterilized water. I'm just not about to go schlepping water between the two sites...
