Chloroquine phosphate

@nanomania Sounds like a possible business opportunity for you here. Companies like Fishman Chemical, NFP, Fish Remedies LLC, New Life Spectrum, etc. are sourcing their CP from China, and the end user often has mixed results due to purity. So, if a company in India can do better then maybe they deserve to be the "go-to place" to get CP from - whether they sell direct to the public or act as a wholesaler.

The issue here is purity. In order for CP to be effective against external parasites, it needs to be 99% pure! I cannot stress that enough; 98% pure just ain't gonna cut it. The 1% binder also needs to be food grade, safe for human consumption, and thus safe for aquarium use.

The Co. in India would need to provide a Certificate of Analysis for each & every batch of CP produced. I would also feel better about it if CP for aquarium use was somehow regulated through the FDA. So, they could do random analysis checks on product being imported into the country.
The tablet strip is in my office, ill click a photo and send u the details... we export some chemicals to latin america, russia, africa, etc. Business sounds good..[emoji12]

What should I have in the AquaClear Filter other then filter floss before dosing with CP?

I only use a sponge when treating with CP; that is where nitrifying bacteria will colonize and help break down ammonia. You can also use ceramic biomedia (they are white, cylinder shaped, porous), but you don't want anything like carbon or any other type of filter media that's not strictly biomedia.

I use a sponge just as a mechanical filter. Mostly to trap uneaten food that's floating around.
My main biological filter is a air driven sponge filter that I charge in the sump of my main tank.
I always try and keep atleast one sponge filter in there ready to go.

I have a small filtermedia bag with liverock rubble in my sump. Can i add that to my qt? How long will it take for qt to cycle?

Not a good idea, as rock/substrate is known to absorb CP the same way it does copper. Better to use a porous sponge or another type of bio-media which does not absorb chemicals.

What if i place it in the hob with sponge? then remove it after a week before adding any meds..

Any1 tried cp with red flame goby or purple goby? Im plannin to get 1 and qt it. Its gona be an expensive (life threatening) experiment but will have to do it to test...

I've used CP on various gobies, never had a problem.

For a 15g (water volume) qt, 3 cp tablets are enough right? (155mg usable) is a little over/under dose of cp ok?

Just so we're on the same page: 155mg Chloroquine x 3 tablets = 465mg / 15 gal = 31mg/gal (TOO LOW)

However, 155mg x 4 tablets = 620mg / 15 gal = 41.3mg/gal (JUST RIGHT) :)

Hey don't know if this has been mentioned, but can hydrochloroquine be used?

After all my research and getting ready I failed to do the most obvious thing. I forgot to remove the carbon from my aquaclear filter in my QT tank. I dosed CP and realized about 10 minutes later so quickly removed the carbon. Is this fast enough or did I really mess up?
