so I had posted a while back that I was looking for choati and Mauritus wrasses. I was basically told the Choati is very difficult so I decided to just look for the Mauritus.

Well I got a message from my LFS yesterday that he ordered 2 Choati. He is giving me what I think is a heck of a deal, 2 For $150. For that price I said I would take them.

So I read the writeup on Reef builders on QT'ing them but any other input would be appreciated.

Pictures will follow when I pick them up later

That's a deal if their in good shape and eating. These are week by week fish..

I helped manage choties what we noticed was they had jet leg so they will b very nocternal so we switched the lights to night durning the day and day during the night put a ton of pods in there for them to way and feed at night rhey still going strong

Acclimated and in qt

My choati lived with my 6 other mixed leopards for 6 months before mysteriously dying out of nowhere.

That sucks, at this point I just want to make it thru the week. Baby steps

I hear it's pretty normal. I hope it doesn't happen, I have better luck with leopards in groups. Mine also hid in the sand for nearly a month when added.

I didn't QT mine. I kept it in an acclimation box for a couple days so it could get used to the light cycle and the other fish, and then let it into the display. I wouldn't want it to not sleep in the sand for more than a couple days. Give it lots of live pods to graze on, and keep a lid on the tank.

Prazi is your friend for leopards in general as well. None of mine were qt'd my wrasse tank is an ich management tank-- although my leopards in other tanks were properly qt'd

In addition to being on a completely different schedule and benefiting from being treated with prazi, it seems that they are sensitive to swings in alkalinity.

It's probably worth your while to use General Cure on them over Prazi; you'll hit them with both metro and prazi with it.

Beautiful fish, best of luck:)

Well at this point I'm just happy they started eating. Glad I ordered those blackworms

Such beautiful fish I miss mine

Aww good luck ! I want one so bad but have been scared to try :(
