So I have a marineland Reef Ready 90 gallon with a stand I got for sale cheap (not to brag $250) and now I'm interested in sumps. I know bigger and longer sump is better but I want to fit it under the stand and I want enough room to put a overflow cannister and other aqaurium related stuff. The stand is a little over 47" by 17" but I've decided on either a Trigger Systems Emerald/Triton 34 or a Ruby 36 but I cant decide because its down to the design of the sumps and their refugium section size. Any suggestions to help me make a final decision?

Welcome to R2R, Bobbie. I have a Marineland 90. It's a sweet size tank as long as you aren't planning on large tangs or large angels. I've had it for years. But the material Marineland makes the stand out of ended up sagging too much, so I built a new stand. But to your question about the sump size. I too was concerned and wanted the largest sump I could fit under the 90. Ended up with an Eshopps RS200. The size fits under the 90 perfectly with a bit of room for hoses, wires. Plenty of room and functionality. I don't run a skimmer, etc. Just lots of macro (chaeto, sea lettuce), Biomax in the sump. Best of luck with your new build.

Consider starting a "build thread" in the Members Tanks section. It's a great place to keep pictures, get comments, and the very cool "Build Thead" banner under your avatar once you upload the initial thread. ;)
