Im looking for an affordable internal that runs cool. Im running a 90g with a single overflow, .75 in and 1 out. Im looking for a decent turn over but HEAT IS AN ISSUE. Any input would be great. Thanks

A Tunze Silence 1073.02 would be ideal. Much more efficient than the Eheim with about the same output and noise. Mine has been running for nearly 3 years.

Also heard good things about those, wouldn't mind upgrading to one.

mag drive 9.5 bullet proof will run forever

I originally ran a mag 9.5 insump when I first got into this hobby. It did run well but produced a LOT of heat. I moved it external and it was a night and day difference.

I also vote Tunze since you're running it internal.

My Tunze is at about 5 ft. of head on a 105g tank. I'm guessing somewhere around 400 gph. It's unlikely that your skimmer will pull more than 300 gph of water. You don't need to use your return pump for flow, just returning water back to the tank. I don't understand why some people use so much flow through the sump. The Tunze will use about 1/3 of the power of the Mag 9.5.

Eheim 1260 or 1262 or Ocean Runner 2500 or 3500. The Reef Octopus 3000 would be another good choice.
I have had nothing but problems with Mag pumps, heat, high power consumption, noise and bad impellers are just a few of the issues and I have owned many over the years.

My present system is a 100G display, single overflow, with a 30G sump using a Ocean Runner 3500 full discharge through an Oceans Motions Squirt two way into two 3/4" Loc Line returns. 53 measured watts at about 800 GPH.
