Hi need advise for choosing the right ato system not necessary right but a good proven one I am not running a sump plan to in the near future, Looking at the jbj ato, aqua smart ato, or hydor, or maybe another one I do't know about any advisee would help.

All of the cheaper ones will eventually fail or have issues making them not suitable for every tank. the spectrapure ato comes with a peristaltic pump, which they make in-house.

The Smart ATO seems to get good reviews but I've never used it myself.

The Tunze 3155 is an ATO that I have used and I have had zero issues with it. It is probably the one of the most used ATOs.

Tunze also have a smaller model that is the same as the 3155 but without the additional optical sensor. I used the smaller version on my AIOs as it doesn't take up much space and I haven't had any issues with in the couple years it's been running.

The hydor smart ato has sensors which are temperature based. that will cause issues if your water is the same as the ambient temp. it also has an annoying alarm.
