Choosing tank size

When choosing between a 125/150/180G tank, what are some of the pros and cons? They’re all 6’. I’m leaning to the 180 because it’s the only one of the 6’ tanks that give the width difference but the height of 18” which is the same as my 75G now. I prefer not to have to be annoyed when having to do tank maintenance. My reach now in the 75 is decent. What’s yall thoughts?

If you dont mind reaching far corners while standing on a chair then do the 180 for added depth front to back

I prefer wide tanks. If I was getting a 6' tank, ideally it would be 3' wide but at least 2'.

I think the height on a 75g is the same as a 180. 24”

Depth. U want depth. Height it great too if u can reach. 24" max imo.

Width front to back gives you more room for scape and to make it look wider. Depth is good if you want to have tall fish. It also gives you more room for corals and swimming fish.

By tall fish I mean like this.

I think a standard 180g is 6x2x2 yes. Marineland made a deep dimension tank that was 6x3x2, that's the perfect six foot tank in my opinion.

Got you, if it is an issue with access then what’s preferred?

My tank is 5x5x3ft tall. Its built into the wall. Lets says its not easy to reach areas like the front glass

6x2x2 180. Makes lighting simple. 3x<favorite led> for full coverage. . Also, beautiful tank. Wish I had one.

Depending on which tank brand you're going with... 210 gallon is also 6' long. ( Aqueon brand ).

I have no desire to go more than 24” in height. The 75g height is perfect

Yes. Height isn't as important to me personally. Anywhere from 20" to 25" is good

6' x 2' x 29" so more height

I personally prefer the long and low lagoon/frag tanks. It’s a style I like and will go that way when I get my big tank in a year or so.

I ordered a 60x24x20 I would have loved to get it 60x30x20 but I’m already way over budget. 20” is the tallest I will go on tank I see no reason to go taller unless you are just trying to get more gallons.
