ChrisQ's Humble Reef

Not too much has changed, besides adding a few new corals.

OH and I have discovered just now that I have AEFW!!! Not too happy about it but will overcome it.

That was from dipping a tri color that hasn't been looking to hot and my ORA Chips acro which is the piece I noticed the bites on.

AEFW seems to be go be gone, haven't seen signs of them for a while now. I did have bryopsis and am currently on day 5 of using Fluconazole which is a new treatment for bryopsis but has been used before for treating fish. It is a 14 day treatment period and so far no negative signs.

I also ended up building my own algae scrubber which turned out to be quite a fun project and easier than I thought. I will not have it running until I finish the treatment for the bryopsis because the medicine seems to kill off other algae like GHA but at a slower rate. At the end of the 14 days I plan to do a larger WC than normal and also put the scrubber online.

Turned out pretty darn good if I can say so myself.

Hope everyone enjoys and has a fun superbowl weekend! (Unless you're a Patriots fan lol. GO DOLPHINS! even though we didn't make it)

I forgot to mention that I was able to get the algae scrubber running and it's been up for about 4 days and this is what it's produced so far.

Quick update

Algae scrubber seems to be doing just fine and I no longer have to run GFO to keep my phosphates down, my display is still not 100% clear of algae but it is not horrible either. There are some algae patches that are worse than others but I can live with it. I ended up buying a new oregon tort because my sliver was/is not doing too well. I am also running a new bulb combo on the ATI that I took from someone here on the forums. Finally, I started doing the KV 4 part that does not require you to run a full zeo system.

Blue Monti - I found this in rough shape and it has colored up and grown significantly. I dont think I have ever seen a monti of this species that is blue skin and blue polyps. It is on a 3" disk to help with understanding actual size.

The time has come that I was finally able to get my dream tank. Over this past weekend I went a purchases a used 187g with dimensions of 60 x 30 x 24. The tank is in great condition and so is the stand. Just gotta clean up a bit and change a few things around like switch from an external pump to an internal and a few other little things. I can't begin to explain how excited I am about this, these are my dream dimensions and can't wait to get it up and running.

Nice, all that extra space to fill! ;)
Indeed! I feel like my 75 is already cramped and I don't even have a lot of big colonies. Currently I'm trying to decide what's more important, getting my new pump or buying used lights.

Always nice to have more room! Your previous build turned out great and your corals seem happy. Your pics are great of your corals, what camera are you using?

Thank you, the camera I am using is a cannon T6i with a 60mm macro lens.

Been thinking a lot about the lighting for the new tank. I can go with a 60" t5 ATI fixture +led OR I can try something new and run 3x 250w MH with 6bulb retro fit t5 and some blue LEDs for pop. What do you guys think?
