Okay so I’ve never owned a favia and I probably should have done some research before getting but I got a frag with two heads of Christmas favia for free with a big order and this stuff is like a white layer with color under it I’m not quite sure how to tell if it’s happy or not will snap a photo if needed.

It looks like this but it looks like someone took a donut glazer and went over it and you can still see color through it.

It's going to be hard to help without photos of your coral. From what your describing, it could be a stress response from chemistry to lighting.
I understand that but that’s how he gave it to me he said idk what’s wrong with it but it’s free if you want it
 
Only thing that pushed me towards peroxide instead of the iodine for my zoas was that I had to take a gallon of water out of my tank and I don’t think my tank is ready for a wc yet.
Peroxide is very harsh and who knows what's wrong the coral so I recommend iodine based dips.
