Christmas is coming!! Time for some reef equipment

Hey guys! I have a 40-gallon cube tank with a cubic stand. Since it can't fit all types of sumos I want to go with the Eshopps Aqua fuge 4th gen sump. I wanted to know if the nano size will be enough even if it rates up to only 35gal. Are 5 gallons that much when we're talking about sumps?

Feel free to give your opinions about it or to give other sump suggestions that would fit in a tight stand!
I don't have the measurements right now because, at school, ill post them later tonight!

Better buy now as it’s predicted the aquatic industry too will suffer the effects of supply shortages

a sump is really just designed for aeration and your equipment. the bigger the better, but people use canister filters, HOB, etc... so a sump isn't even required. the biggest concern I would have after equipment, would be overflow... meaning, when the power goes out, is there enough space in your smaller sump for the minimal tank drain.

My nonanswer is that only you can decide that. Sure part of the reason someone may use a sump is increase water volume and stabilize parameters but in this sense the rating difference of 5g is not too important.

The biggest factors are a)is the equipment/functions you want possible and the right size. If you want a skimmer which one and will it fit, etc.
And b) will it have excess capacity to hold water when return pump is off

Thanks, i'll look into that, I already have a sump but it was a DIY that was with the tank when I bought it and it's getting old.
