My Christmas wrasse is just lying on his side and breathing rapidly. I was able to get him out of my DT and he is is my qt tank which is currently being treated with furan2. I don’t see anything apparent other than his color is faded at about his midpoint to tail. Any help would be appreciated

We need more information:
  1. Is this a relatively new fish?
  2. If not, have you added anything new (fish, corals, inverts, etc.) recently to your DT?
  3. Was this fish quarantined?
  4. If so, can you describe your QT protocol?

I have had him about three months. He was in Qt for a little over a month. He went through cupramine for two weeks then basically a week of furan2 and GC for extra precaution. He has been in my DT for a little over a month and has been very reclusive. Rarely ever saw him. I did add a couple snails a week ago. Not qt thought. Removed them from the shipping bag and placed them in fresh saltwater for about an hour before placing them in my dt. Tried to clean them from as much shipping water as I could. No new corals for a month.

Was the fish transferred to a different QT after two weeks worth of Cupramine? Or was the copper level lowered and then you proceeded with Furan-2 + GC? Did you do two rounds of GC, 5-7 days apart?

Cupramine was lowered over the course of a week using carbon. Tested 0 when I began furan2 and gc after doing a 50% wc using fresh sw, instant ocean. Yes, two complete rounds of furan and gc. Then carbon and WC again. Left him in another couple of days before placing him in dt. Everything looked good.

If using just 1 QT, 30 days worth of Cupramine is usually required.

It's also possible parasite tomonts were introduced by the snails from a week ago.

Dang... Thought I was doing it right. Thanks humblefish. He is still lying on his side breathing rapidly but starting to swim periodically.
