I added 3 chromis to my tank about a month ago. They all seemed to acclimate well, but after a couple weeks I noticed that one of them started to develop what I thought might be popeye. He would stay in the back under the returns and away from the other two, but would come out when it was feeding time. I started to treat him and after about 6 days the swelling went down, but now it looks like his retina is completely missing and there is just a white eye socket. He is no longer hiding, his color is fine and he seems very active. Is there anything I should watch for going forward? Might he just have caught his eye on something? Give him a pirate name and carry on?

Watch to see if it gets infected. If so you will need to treat - likely for bacterial infection.
One of the biggest issues you may face is aggression from the other chromis. They were likely the ones to do the damage in the first place.

Yes - It sounds like an injury Good that it recovered. Its also the way 'Popeye' sometimes resolves - with the eye 'popping' - thus relieving the pressure and infection

This happens and with proper health and diet can live as normal. I have a banggai cardinal that jumped over 2 years ago and lost left eye.
Healthy and alert and never misses a meal.
