Chromis bacterial infection?

Is my chromis infected with something? He eats and looks healthy but when my lights are turned off at night he shrivels up in the corner and has these visible white spots. They’re not visible during the daytime.

Looks like damage from aggression - is he in with other chromis? What about other fish?

He’s in a 20 gallon tank with a clownfish, 2 weeks ago he was in a Petco tank with various fish

In so small a tank, I wouldn’t be surprised if the clown was picking on it.
Mine won’t let anything (including my hand) anywhere near their 13.5.
Was it damaged when you got it?

I think so, I noticed the issue a day or two after I picked him up. It’s only present at night for some reason

i see 2 chromis in the first picture.

Chromis's are known to kill each other off.
And if your tank is small and they do not have enough room to run away from, it can spell disaster for the weaker one.

ahhh... i see it now...

I think it probably got battered up at the LFS.
I have one that similar... you don't see its damage until the lights are just right, then it looks like its missing a few scales like yours.

Id say as long as you don't see any red sores you're probably OK.
When you see Red Sores, thats when things go bad fast.

These appear to be bite marks from aggression as its typical behavior of these fish and you will want to identify aggressor and also assure its healing and not becoming red or sore requiring treatment which will be Seachem Neoplex in a separate treatment tank.
