I'm not sure if this is a disease or not. My 2 chromis I just got look to have missing scales.

I was only able to notice this during night time with lights off.

During the day, you can't see anything visibly wrong with them. They are active, eat and do not seem stressed at all.

Wondering if it might be some infection?

One of my chromis looks like this at night as well. What did you figure out?

I’ve seen that on my chromis at night as well. I suspected uronema but I’ve had them a year now. They’ve grown and are nice and fat. I assume it has something to do with evading predators at night as they go into hiding as soon as lights go out.

I can only speculate but I don’t believe it is any disease. I’m guessing it was due to them being in a big bunch at the store when I got them and they got scale damage there. They’re totally fine from my experience with it, happy and growing. Still look like this in the dark also. They look fine in the light.

My less dominant one looks like this as well. Time will tell! I’ve had him for almost 5 months now.

I think it's just natural pigmentation combined with just the right amount of light. Mine look like that at night time too.
