Purchased 3 blue-green chromis today from a trusted store and they were fine and happy all day, little bit of bullying between them but otherwise swimming around and eating normally within an hr of putting them in the tank. When night light came on (less blue and dimmer) noticed one of the chromis had mottled scales and was hiding in a dark corner. I pulled him into an isolation box for an hour to watch him and under brighter light the spots are not noticeable at all, no heavy breathing, no red streak like in uronemia so returned to open DT.
Does this look like just new/lost scales from fighting in the large school tank at the LFS or could it be early uronemia/ich?

Can you post any clearer images?
This is the best I can do, as soon as I turn the light on spots arent visible anymore.

They are chromis and generally a pretty crappy fish. If you manage to get actual healthy ones, they will pick off the weakest member of the group until only a few are left.

If you want 4 chromis, you buy 10-12 of them. This is simply the way of chromis.

The weakest one always get picked on . They will grow back. My little one of 8 is always beat up but he always seems to come back from it.

Honestly im not super attached to them, i mainly just wanted a fish that would be super active and swimming to try entice my female clown to come out of her corner (so many nice fluffy corals to choose from and she hugs a silicone wall all day) a little bit more (worked so far). I'm not entirely fussed if this chromis/they don't make it, obviously taking care of them to the best of my ability as a responsible pet owner but will happily get rid of it if theres risk of it being an infectious illness to protect the clowns/goby.

Not infected - definitely looks like it got beat up. This will likely continue until there’s one chromis.

I have three pacific chromis in my tank now. They are quite happy or appear to be and never seem to pick on anything. Make sure you have lots of hiding places and preferably toward the top. If I am correct, they naturally are used to hiding at night and zipping in and out of acros in the wild.
