All my fish died in August which I believe was caused by dosing too much alkalinity at once. Since then I have been restocking my fish in a 34 gallon Red Sea170. I first added a blue chromis and now added a neon goby, a gold head sleeper goby, scissor tail dartfish, possum wrasse and recently added two ocellaris clownfish. Also, there is a shrimp goby that lives with a pistol shrimp that survived the fish die off. When my fish died all my corals, anemones and inverts besides the sexy shrimp survived.
The chromis has been hostile towards my dartfish and causes it to go into hiding. I also added a small lawnmower blenny about a month ago which the chromis would terrorize. I have not seen that fish in two weeks. I have a lid so I doubt the blenny jumped. I added the clownfish thinking they would dominant the chromis but the opposite happened. The clownfish stay under a rock and fight the chromis when they come out only to return under the rock.
I have tried to catch the chromis with a net, but he hides in the rock. I talked to an LFS about the situation and they said a chromis should not be aggressive. Another LFS suggested that by adding two other chromis my current one should be less aggressive.
I was wondering if anybody thinks adding more chromis would be a good idea or if anybody has any ideas on how to catch mine in my tank. I have a lot of coral which took me a while to grow and I wouldn’t want to start moving stuff. I’m afraid of breaking some sps. Also, is it possible this is not a chromis but another type of damselfish. I had three chromis in the past which were very peaceful. Any feedback would be appreciated.
