Hello all I have had 3 chromis before and they all seemed to die off one at a time. This was not due to any disease and they all looked and acted normal until they vanished.
There were no signs that I ever saw of aggression
I would like a trio or more again because i light the looks of it.
But I have heard that they tend to kill each other off one at a time overtime until 1 remains
Basically I was wondering if it is possible to keep a small school of chromis in a 55 gallon tank like mine or even smaller?

Thanks

I've seen it work. Just buy them at the same time to prevent territory issues.

I've had 5 in a 120g for nearly two years. I've been lucky so far, but time will tell.

The larger the school, and the more frequently you feed, the better the group does. I have never had a problem keeping a group.

I have 4 in a 75g the last 3yrs no probs. Plus for the whole month of Dec they were in a container on my floor as the seal went on my tank while on hols. The stress they've gone through and there still flying around (hard as nails)

Ok thanks for all the replies
I think maybe what happened last time was i wasn't feeding enough since I only fed once every 2 days and since the clowns probably ate most of it before they could(now I feed once everyday in bigger portions)
I think I will try another group of 4 or so in the next month
Thanks

Feeding only once a day is not going to cut it for chromis. They simply do much better with a couple/few small meals a day rather than one large meal.

Smaller meals also help keep a tank cleaner as less food goes uneaten.

I kept them for years in a 55, had 4 or 5 of them and they where easy to keep.. Loved how they would school in my tank or come flying from all corners into a little ball when startled :)

Well after a few weeks of spying for good chromis at my lfs there was finaly a shipment of very healthy and vibrant ones. I purchased 4 of them.
I have been feeding 2-3 times a day since I have had them
On day 5
1 is MIA
1 has a dis functional fin (still eats)
1 has a big nick in the side (in corner of tank will still eat though)
1 is perfectly healthy with no marks and is active and eats

Also the healthy one seems to bully the other 2
And the Mia one just went missing today

Well day 6 of them and 3 of the four dropped dead. One died every 5 hours or so. The remaining chromis is perfectly healthy still
