Hey

I have a chromis that is in quarantine with other chromis and a cleaner wrasse that I believe is sick. He is breathing really fast mouth extended a bit and possible lesions on head. Just want to know what I should treat with.

Breathing fast is a symptom of a great many afflictions; ich, velvet and flukes off the top - which are the three we see most often.

A freshwater dip may help in case this is caused by flukes - there's a terrific video here on how to do it: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/video-how-to-do-a-freshwater-dip.286639/#post-3487082

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the possibility of Uronema, especially since you mention some lesions on the fish's head. Chromis seem to show up with it more often than not. Both Acriflavine (in a bath) and Metronidazole (General Cure by API or MetroPlex by Seachem are products containing it) have shown some promise, but it's a difficult disease to treat.

I can't tell anything definitive from the pics, but most chromis nowadays come to us with uronema: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/uronema-marinum.247940/
Shoot looks like he might be developing this on his belly. Hmm what do you suggest I do. Metroplex? There are 4 other chromis in there and a cleaner wrasse. I could set up another qt really quick if need be.
I don't want the dt to get infected obviously. Hahapoint of qt right?

If it's on one, there's a good chance it's on all. Metro's a good place to start, and can be dosed both in the water (external) and in food, bound with Seachem Focus. Use one scoop of Metro, one scoop of Focus and one tablespoon of food (refrigerate any leftovers) for internal treatment.

Agree with everything above. In addition, a fish with a mouth stuck open is often an injury that will either heal on its own or it won't. Unfortunately there's little you can do (if this is even applicable, but from the photos it appears it may be)

Shoot. Guess im going to fish store to buy some meds.

So i have done 3 separate treatments of metroplex for these chromis. I have lost 2 of the 5 but the remaining three still have lesions on them. Any ideas?
