Chromis

I picked up a blue green chromis today, he’s been at the lfs since December and looks very healthy. His eyes seem to be uneven, is this a problem? It’s eye is not blurry. I hope it’s not pop-eye, but if it is, do I need to remove it from the tank? Or is it non-contagious?

I forgot to mention that he was previously picked on a chalk bass in the same tank as him, but none of his fins seem tore.

Keep an eye on him - he may have bumped that eye during transfer or while evading the chalk bass.

If it begins to swell noticeably, you can use epsom salts (USP Grade, no additives) in your display tank to help reduce swelling.

X2 on Epsom salt. It wouldn’t hurt to do now before it worsens, IMO

1 tablespoon per 5 gals. Only use organic or pure Epsom salt (look at ingredient list).

Epsom is safe in DT, so long as you follow @Maritimer and @4FordFamily recommendations. Make sure its unscented, pure, etc.

It's just a 1 time dose. It will either work or it won't. No need to re-dose.

Your inverts should be fine. It's just magnesium, which SW aquariums already have a presence of.

His eye is still a bit swollen... do you think it’s permanent? Or should I continue treating it?

Are you sure it's not an infection? If it's an infection you will need to move the fish to a QT and treat with antibiotics.

Kanaplex is probably the easiest thing to obtain in this situation.

I'm really not sure. The epsom clearly helped though. Its pushed back a lot. Just a bit wide still...
