Hi everyone,

Just got an ICP test as I’ve had some RTN show up out of no where and my Chromium (Cr) level is very high. It’s so high Triton recommends doing water changes.

Any idea the source of this?
I think it might be contributing to my RTN as a month ago everything was fine. Color good and corals growing then I noticed health going down hill and some RTN. It never got better so sent off and ICP test.

Any insight would be great. Thanks

Triton posts a list of possible sources along with the results.
They list them in order of most common first so start at the top and troubleshoot your way through.

Yeah i doubt its a trace element overdose. Only dose a few zeovit products.

not sure it could be a wet side from an old MP10 don’t see any rust marks on it but it’s 4 years old or so. Could be a magnetic holder for an optical sensor from Neptune? The covering on the back of the magnet was lifted and I could peel it right off. Not sure if it could be that?

could it be high capacity GFO? Not sure what else it could be. Checked all other MP40s in the tank. Only other pumps that run skimmer, UV And return are Cor20 nothing to rust on them.

I have 2 maxi jet pumps running GFObut don’t think those are know to crack?

I had this happen a while back and it was a bad wet side on an old MP40 that was cracked. I could see the crack and rust. So that’s why I’m not sure it’s the MP10 this time. Very frustrating.

Could also check himges on sump cabinet doors that may be shedding rust into sump when opening and closing doors (happened to me).
Any rusted screws or spindles on pump propeller (also happened to me).
Salt contam.
Top up water.
I feel your pain!
