Coral Induction Protocol Score is a fancy term I came up with for adding corals to your reef tank. Very unscientific but somewhat fun! HA!

Recently I have received a couple of coral orders and I was thinking about how I am going to add them to the main display tank and wanted to hear your thoughts on it as well. Obviously I have added many corals over the past 17 or so years but there's still opportunity to learn! So let's get a little more detailed today and answer the following questions please!

So what is your Coral Induction Protocol Score? Give yourself the points assigned for each if you answer yes.

5pts: Do you acclimate new coral to temperature of your tank?
10pts: Do you acclimate new coral to the water parameters of your tank by replacing water in the bag over time?
20pts: Do you dip the coral to eliminate coral pests?
5pts: Do you visually inspect your coral or frags before adding them?
30pts: Do you quarantine coral before adding to the tank?
20pts: Do you cut the frags off of the frag plug or rock they are attached to before placing them?
10pts: Do you place new coral on the sand bed for light acclimation?

Should we add something else to the scoring criteria?

I scored a 40! :p

I scored between a 20 and a 30. One place I get corals from has alot of pods and serpent stars and other good hitch hikers. So those I usually temp acclimate and visually inspect for pests. Anywhere else I also dip them. Could bite me in the backside one day but thats what I do.

I scored either 60 or 90. I do acclimate to temp. I don't acclimate to water parameters. I dip and inspect, I cut off the frag plugs and replace, and I place low in tank to acclimate to light. That is 60. Sometimes, I quarantine if something looks suspicious (which is why sometimes 90). I feel you can never be too safe with these guys, rather not bring in a bunch of pests.

40 on some, 60 on some. the 20 diff coming from cutting the plug. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

so variable number:
i do temp accl and param accl' 15
i do visually inspect 10
i FW dip but am interested in hearing the best DIPS (dip introduction procedure system) 10
i sometimes put the frag on the bottom 5
40

Temp accl, sometimes I dip depending on the tank the frag came from, visual inspection is a must as I take pictures of everything that I put in my tank, light accl for LPS, Acros go directly to the frag rack

So I scored around 20 and 40

I guess my score varies? lol 50 more often but anything from someone I don't know or maricultured 95

I got 60. I will eventually get a coral QT set-up. I'm afraid if I do have a QT for coral I will just turn it onto another grow out haha!
