Hello! I usually use vinegar to clean pumps but I heard citric acid was safer. Is this the correct thing?

On the flip-side, I can’t see using this to ‘can tomatoes.’

Citric Acid is citric acid. So long as it does not list any other ingredients it should be fine... Expensive to buy it that way though.

As someone else already commented, as long as it is the only ingredient, then yes, it's the right thing. The only "real" difference that might exist is the level of purity (i.e. food grade vs lab grade, where lab grade is more pure), which refers to the tiny amount of contaminants present in the item (in this case, contaminants in the citric acid). I'm not sure which grade BRS uses, but for cleaning purposes, I'd imagine food grade would work just fine.
