Citric Acid

Hey,

I want to use citric acid to clean pumps in my tank. Does it kill aptaisa as well? If so, are there any potential issues with dipping my rocks in a bath of citric acid water to kill aptaisa?

Are you wanting to just clean your rock and start fresh?

I’d be concerned with rock absorption of the citric acid solution then leeching it into the tank

That’s not an issue but it will kill everything in the rock. If it’s a fresh start I usually just use bleach.

Yea, but don't want to use bleach because of the time it takes to clean it.

Huh? Bleach solution at 1000ppm is only ten minutes.

I'd use bleach.

It will kill aiptasia but they will not detach, you'll still have to scrape them off. I just finished soaking a reef mat for a couple of days and while dead they all stayed attached.
