So today I noticed my citron clown goby was looking very skinny and breathing kind of heavy. He’s eat very little but just not looking healthy at all. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Can you take some pictures of the little guy for us?

Pictures come out really blue with my lights for some reason but here’s a few

What are you offering for food? Did you run through a qt before doing to display tank?

I switch between two kinds of frozen food. I also sometimes toss some flakes or new life spectrum marine formula

Do you have a quarantine tank? I would move him over. It could he a couple different things. Could be getting out competed by his tank mates for food. Or it could be some sort of internal parasite.
#Reefsquad any suggestions?

Yeah I have a QT, I need to get some new water for it but I can transfer him over tomorrow after work. I’ll transfer 50% from my display tank into the QT and 50% new water so it’s not too harsh of a transition for him.

I also have the following medications

That fish is emaciated, unfortunately. I think that’s probably the issue. If you’re feeding it and it’s still that thin I suspect internal parasites — feed General Cure and Focus in strained/drained frozen foods for 10-14 days if it’ll still eat.

Also what do you mean by focus on strained/drained frozen food? I usually put half a frozen cube. In a small bowl with tank water and let is dissolve then feed with a turkey baster

I am not seeing anything. Does it have white stringy poop at all or signs of white or black dots?
What are you feeding it and are you using any vitamins?
What is your pH? Actually post all the numbers you can. Could be anything at this point.
Maybe it got spooked, hit a rock, and is not doing well.

Focus is a powder that binds meds to your food. I microwave frozen foods and then strain the water out and add selcon, vita chem, or zoecon and add focus and general cure.

Ok I’ll see if my petco has any of that stuff tomorrow and start treating tomorrow night once I get everything set up. Poor little guy.

Thanks for you help!! I’ll keep you guys posted

Just did a little reading up on them. Seems they do not acclimate well into home aquariums. So my next question is how long have you had it?
Have you any colonies of pods in your tank? Seems as though when the are new. They prefer the live foods for a bit. Then you can ween them off somewhat of the live to prepared foods like frozens, pellets, or flakes.
Live foods seem to be the key if they are like brine, pods, and plankton.
Does it have a coral to dwell in? They habit by nature is to dwell in one and won't feel comfortable without one.

Actually leave the food frozen and let your food thaw out with the vitamins or medications of choice. White stringy poop is a good indicator for internal parasites or worms. Metroplex & Kanoplex are a good medicine. When the food is thawed out with the things listed above. The ice crystals will draw the products into the food as it thaws out. Focus you want to use AFTER it is thawed out to basically coat the food with the left overs.

Update...

Well I got him into my QT last night and dosed general cure right away. Fed him some frozen brine shrimp I soaked in some garlic a little.

He ate very little.

Today he is still kicking but is nothing more than bones and scales. I fed him again and he ate a few bites and just sat on the bottom

As I was watching him something came out his back end...probably poop but it was red which I thought was weird. Picture below is hard to tell.

I couldn’t find focus anywhere so I’ll have to order some online. Im not sure what else to do... I don’t think he’s going to make it much longer at this rate though :(

Well today looks like the little guys last day...

I think it would be a miracle if he pulls through at this point. He’s not looking any better. I wish I knew what went wrong / what I could have done to help
