I see in this thread that Pacific East Aquaculture recommends that clams not be kept with an alkalinity above 8.

Although the problems they mention are kind of vague, I want to know if anyone else has had similar experience.

(I'm looking into getting a maxima and run alk at a steady 11.5 dkh in an SPS dominant tank.)

Would also like to know. Mine is around 7.8-8 dKH right now with my first maxima in there.

Good number
Ph not to exceed 8.3
Temperature not to exceed 80 degrees
Salinity not to exceed 1.026
Alk not to exceed 9

i never knew that high alk was a problem for clams, and neither does my clam. He has been in my tank since he was 2.5 in and now is 5in and looks good. My alk runs around 10
