dont some corals get 12" the areas that arent exposed with clam mantle can be substrate for corals. ive seen pictures of acropora growing on clam shells, not thta i want acropora necessarily but i could use other nonagressive corals. also, they cant get algae growth on the mantle right? my logic is a rolling stone (a opening and closing mantle) cant grow moss (algae)dont they get like 12+ inches
You can trim a coral if if overgrows you can’t trim a clamdont some corals get 12" the areas that arent exposed with clam mantle can be substrate for corals. ive seen pictures of acropora growing on clam shells, not thta i want acropora necessarily but i could use other nonagressive corals. also, they cant get algae growth on the mantle right? my logic is a rolling stone (a opening and closing mantle) cant grow moss (algae)
Tell that to GHA or Coraline algae, I don't think either has gotten the message as both have grown on my hermit shells.my logic is a rolling stone (a opening and closing mantle) cant grow moss (algae)
too late https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/20-gallon-nps.856798/All sorts of random stuff grows on my clam. Clams are light intensive animals and can grow extremely fast under the right conditions. My deresa has added about 0.5” of shell growth in about 2 months in my tank already. Like I’ve said in many of your other threads, focus on the tank you have and upgrading current equipment to better the current stock.
This 100%, in that small of a tank best way would be as a refugium lol connect the clam tank to a much larger system. It would be difficult since they suck down ca and alk and nutrients like crazy. Would want a doser and test frequently. I would certainly consider it an advanced endeavor.
