clam eatin by shrimp

Who gave you the advice to put a clam inside a mantis tank?

I guess you could put a clam on a frag rack

did not know it would eat it. shrimp is in my reef tank came in in some live rock.

How big is it?

There are some DIY mantis traps floating around the net. I'm sure you can find one that will help.

was trying the home made bottle trap. but he wanted nothing tq do with it. now i am trying a x terminator.seems to be more interested.seen him on top of trap tap danceing.

Just wait until u see him in a rock and take the rock out. Take the rock into the lfs and trade it for some dry rock or store credit. No need to kill it or anything.

he is 2 in. long. he stays near bottom of tank where he has made borrows.have two or three that want him when i can catch him. dont want to kill him if had him in there for around a year.

I hate to sound like a d**k but if uve had the mantis shrimp for a year have you never looked anything about them up? That's all they do is crack open shells and eat what's inside. Sorry for the loss of clam. Once again I hate to sound like it but gotta research all your inhabitants

How big is your tank. You really need to do what you can to get that thing out. It will eat your fish as well. I had a very very tiny one in my old 10g ate a fish about 5x his size

90g tank read alot about them but never seen anything about eating clams.he has never bouther fish .alwas eat when i feed fish.but now that he has gotten bigger cant be trusted. got trap seat now hope he takes bait but he is smart.

Skip a day of feeding while having the trap in there so it will get accustomed to it. Then bait and pass him on.

thanks for advice i will try that. so far all i have caught is hermt crabs.
