Clam foot

IMO, the best and safest way is to rock it back and forth gently until the foot releases. It may take a while. On one of mine, it took a good 30 minutes. Good luck.

Thanks I'm thinking about breaking down my tank. Might just leave it on the rock

Take a sharp knife and gently cut the byssal threads as close to the rock as possible, do not pull it off the rock though you can cause infection and kill the clam.

^^^Yup. The byssal threads are like fingernails or hair to us, except clams grow faster. It won't hurt the clam at all.
