Happy Holidays everyone. I thought I'd share a funny story with you all. I had mentioned to my wife a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to get a maxima clam for my tank. So when Christmas came around and she was looking for gift ideas she thought that a clam would be a great gift. The following is the story that she told me Christmas morning...
My wife went to my LFS (I've dragged her there several times throughout the years) about a week before Christmas and told one of the employees that she wants a clam. He immediately asked her if she was sure she was ready for a clam. She replied that it was for her husband who is "an avid tanker". He asked if she meant "reefer" and she said yes lol. He then told her that you need intense lighting for clams and stable parameters, and she replied "yes we have lights."
My wife said it is was clear that this employee didn't want to sell her a clam ( and for good reason lol). Finally he showed her a tank full of clams and she asked "where are they?" He showed her again. She thought she was looking for a clam "like the ones we use to make baked clams." At that point the employee suggested "a gift certificate would be better so that your husband can pick out which one he wants." And my wife agreed and purchased a gift certificate.
The story gets funnier because when I asked her what she was going to do with the clam between that day and Christmas morning she said that she thought she "could keep it in the fridge like we do with live clams purchased at the fish market." THANK GOD I have a LFS that cares for their animals and didn't just sell her a clam! Happy Holidays everyone, I hope no one woke up to a maxima in the ice box!
