I’ve had this clam for about a month in the tank. When I bought it the edges of its shell were pearly white. This has not changed in a month while the rest of the shell seems to be turning a brown/green algae color. Because the edges are still white does that mean it’s continuing to grow? Or is that the same new growth from the beginning?

New growth on the shell will be white. Keep a close eye on the "scutes" or ridges in the shell. You should be able to see how much it's growing on a monthly basis.

So if the tip of the shell remains white at all times does that mean it is continuously growing? Or is it better to count the ridges each month?

I took pictures of mine to be able to see it’s growth. That’s the only way I could really tell.

Maxima or crocea will have ripples and this one is growing. I have a deresa with a smooth shells and grows in a uniform fashion.

Yes, you always want to see a white edge to the shell when the clam pulls it's mantle in. Since growth is incremental each day it can be difficult to notice growth, tracking the ridges helps see how fast it's grwoing (taking picures like flagg37 mentioned is a good way).
