My Cousin purchased this Maxima from a LFS 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. Today they found it like this.

She runs a canister filter with carbon, t5 lights, has tangs, one angel fish, firefish and three anemones with some softies. Her fish have ich right now so she turned her heater up to 80° for three days but turned it back to 78° today. The clam started closing up today.

Any suggestions would help.
Thanks Jason g

Sorry but looking at the pic on my phone looks like the clam may have already died. Im not certain anything can be done. I would reach in, if it doesnt do anything take it out and smell it. A dead clam smells like you'd expect a dead clam to smell like. Its pretty pungent.

Many different reasons. Temp swings, chemistry, lighting, etc. It will be hard to pin point at this time.

Okay I will let them know but what could possibly kill it overnight?
Thats a very difficult question. Usually clams spend a lot of time going downhill without the aquarist noticing, then they die and thats more obvious.

Someone would have to know a lot about the tank and equipment, the clam, acclimation, and the history behind it before purchase... in my experience you probably wont get just one specific solid answer. Sorry.

Thanks we're just trying to figure it out. I thought I'd turn to the forum for answers. Thanks for the input everyone. This sucks. [emoji22]
