Clam ID and if its healthy?

i just got my first clam today. its been a couple hours.
just wanna know its id and how do i know if its healthy?

Seems to be a Crocea, although I'm not 100% sure..

Health is easiest to check by moving you hand over it, if it closing quickly while shaded, it is in good health.

thanks. just checked. it did quickly moved after being shaded.
but the mouth being that big is normal?

Keep an eye on the cyano/diatoms on the sand bed though... How old is your tank?

tank is 2months old. diatoms has started to clear past 2 weeks.

two months is fairly young tank for adding a clam.
Cycle has probably not completed, so keep a close eye on parameters. Especially KH, Magnesium, Phosphates and Nitrates.

From the angle of the photo, id agree it looks like a crocea. But, personally id consider its mouth "gaping" and a little more open than i would want mine to look. keep an eye on it. Its a little rough on a clam to be in a new system so make sure your parameters arent swinging. How long is the clam?

clam is probably 5".

params has been good since about a month ago. tank has just 2 clowns in it and a few zoas

I agree, clams prefer not only fully cycled tanks but very mature tanks. Unfortunately the odds are stacked against you here, but I hope all works out well for you! Pretty clam!
