I just picked this up at my local shop. It’s pretty small but looks awesome and opened nicely in my tank. Trying to figure out what kind of clam it is and would appreciate any pointers as this is my first clam. I run 2 kessil a360’s and keep my ca at about 470, kH about 9.5 and nitrates are at about 1-1.5. He looks pretty happy right now. Will these guys grow??

Thanks

Tridacna maxima. I'd advise to do a little research before purchasing a clam so there needs can be met. Look up James fatheree, he has excellent articles about tridacnid clams. Should do well under kessils, slowly acclimate the clam to light intensity, that one looks small. Congrats, its beautiful.

Yes, maxima. They generally require higher light levels than resting on the sand bed will provide. May want to move it up onto the rockwork.

+1 on maxima, you're right that it looks pretty happy right now but they are very sensitive, keep an eye on it :)

Agree with all the above and would like to add that as a rock boring species he would appreciate a cradle shaped rock to sit in.
