Just wondering if is a clam and if it is what species would you say it is?

Looks like a tridachna dersera. But I may be wrong because I can’t see the shell very well. It looks smooth to me.

Very cool. I want to say it is a type of oyster but I am not sure myself.

The mantle is very bright blue under actinic if it helps, but it seems not as expanded as most clams.

There’s some more close up pics, the mantle looks to be connected on the middle

Yeah nope not a tridacna. Second pic, tridacnas have patterned shells. Still a cool hitchhiker.

No I wasn’t thinking myself too, I wouldn’t think is a oyster to as normally they very pale in colour. Is just the bright colours and the small mantle that making me curious as never seen anything like it.

Could it be a hippopus porcellanus or something similar?

Nothing wrong with the oyster and they are very cool creatures themselves. Going on color to determine if it is photosynthetic isn't entirely accurate either. I have a huge black mussel of some kind that has purplish/blue lips (they are small) but is definitely a filter feeder since it greatly opens up at night and during the day is covered by a large yuma.

No not at all, I do like interesting and different species of all sorts, I was just thinking photosynthetic as the clam is very sensible to light changes like most normal healthy clams.
