Came home yesterday to a not so happy surprise. Checked the tank and the mocha clown was gill deep in a clam death grip. Finally freed her but she looked pretty ruff, though swimming upright. Checked just as I went to bed and she is more artic white than mocha. Think there is more than likely going to be a burial at sea in the morning. [emoji22]

I’m waiting for mine to suffer the same fate.. my little clown thinks it’s his pillow ;Facepalm

I had one fish live in and out of my clam. Seemed fine together. My squammie had a pair of clowns living with it (dumb clowns) for quite some time too. Sorry your clam got the clown. Maybe it was ill prior to the clam closing on it? Hope it pulls through.

Love this picture because of the male peeking his nose out in the side. Very funny guys. I am soooo sad I lost them to my unexplainable loss of fish during the move. 6-7yrs with these guys. The clam also was lost because of a "reef safe" snail that got too it before I could spot it. He also got a derasa. Then he got sumped. Died I guess lack of wonderful clams to eat.

Another day and she is still hanging in! Her eyesight seems to be gone however as she hasn't eaten since the event. Maybe just trying to heal but without food, it is simply a matter of time.

So I have 2 clowns I love! Eventually I want to ad a clam is this a normal issue to worry about?

Depends on the clowns. I rarely hear of what happened to the OP. Very sorry. Clams have never gotten any of my fish and I have had clams mostly on for 14 years. My clowns eventually gave up the clam to a anemone or leather coral. They used both. :)

Good to know I have two designers oscelleris clowns. Won’t have a clam for several months though waiting on my system to mature
