Clam is spewing

Yeah, that doesn’t look good. The spawning could’ve been a stress spawn due to all the changes. In my experience, maximas don’t live long term in home aquaria. So you’re not alone.

@Dburr1014 I'm curious - you mentioned you moved the clam a couple times. Was it attached to substrate at any time and if so how did you free it?

I moved it to upgrade my tank 4 months ago. I moved it yesterday. I didn't like where it was, half under sps colony.

When I bought it 5.5 years ago I was smart enough to put it on a dish shaped rock. I can freely move it at any time. It still attached now.

So far, no change.
Mantle is half out, it does have some reactions to light but not much.

Unfortunately the clam did not make it.

I picked it up and the byssal threads Just detached From the clam and stayed on the Rock.

I'm wondering if it was the Ivermectin from when I set this tank up. The drug has a 200+ day half life.

I dipped all my scape moving from one tank to the other 5 months ago. I did NOT dip the clam. Rinsed, GAC, new water, ect.
This kinda fits. I want another but going to wait 6ish months.

That sucks. I wonder if it was the ivermectin that did it. The fact that the clam spawned so much as it was dying is a sign that that it was well taken care of. Take solace in that.

Seems to me I read a report a while ago about ivermectin and clams. I go back and take a look at some point. I've been on a few threads with the use.
This is why I'll wait before getting another.

Spot on. Many people don’t realize this, but a Tridacna clam can do this as a last resort to procreate before dying. Spawning in a reef tank doesn’t always mean good news.

This is the exact reason for starting the post. I knew they did a last ditch effort to save the lineage.
I was hoping it wasn't the case but, unfortunately it was.
It hasn't looked great for a couple weeks now and was hoping it would recover by moving it. I was definatly slow to move it.
