Is an Orphek par 38 blub able to sustain a clam? If so, a Maxima or a Dersa? Secondly, can a clam live for a 76 day qt without as strong lighting as it would receive in the display tank? I'm thinking no, but figured I'd ask

What kind of lighting is in the qt? I'm not sure on the orphek, not to familiar with that bulb. I know there atlantik would.

It's a Current Orbit. Eventually it'll get upgraded to a black box led, but that's a few months away. The Orbit has done ok with LPS and one SPS for the 76 days.

How big is the tank? If your planning on upgrading to the black box it might be best to wait until then. The orbit is decent light, I run one on my mom's nano. I grow everything in that shallow tank but a clam is not something I'd try.

The qt tank is 10 gallons. The tank the clam would go into would have the Orphek and an orbit on it (29 gallon) . It's probably best to wait. It's for my daughter's tank, and she keeps asking if she can spend her money on the clam. I don't want her to put money on it and it not work out. Thanks for giving the feedback.
