My clam's mantle started receeding today. I bought the clam on Sunday and it seemed to be doing fine until today. The outflow valve is still flinching if i block the light over it and I saw it excrete some stuff tonight. Any help would be appreciated.

first picture was Sunday and second was today.

Not sure. I was going to ask about that in an ID thread
Can you grab a clearer pic? Looks like a toad stool kinda, but would be good to see if its irritating it whatever it is.

Here is a better picture of the growing thing on the side of the clam

yup/ I do believe that its a toadstool coral. Should come off pretty easy with a finger nail.

Do you know how much light you have on the clam?

It was at the bottom of my tank at first. When i saw the receeding i move it up thinking it wasn't getting enough light.

Oh and it is a new addition, so a certain amount of settling in and odd behaviour is normal.

Is your shrimp harassing it?

It looks like it could be PMD to me. Run some new charcoal and up the amount a little. Unfortunately shrimp and hermits hang around dying clams.

The Sarcophyton/Toadstool has probably been there awhile but it may have just started to irritate the clam so you should probably remove the coral.

I know nothing about the lighting fixture.

Did you check water chemistry?

Beautiful Maxima I hope it turns around for you.

the clam should be ok on the bottom I think. could be better but...
They are round

My parameter were good yesterday. 0 amonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate (mixing water for water change tomorrow) 8dkh, 420 calcium, 1.025 . Just got home and it seems to still be gong down hill. I will try to look at it in a bit to see if there are any pyramid snails disturbing it.
