Clam max size?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of getting a clam again and I know that some get super huge. I used to have a Golden Teardrop Maxima and that's what I'm thinking I'd like to have again...also maybe one more. But I can't find what the max sizes are anymore. Liveaquaria took the sizes off their listing for clams. Any idea?

Crocea gets this big usually...
Squamosa gets this big usually...
Deresa...
Maxima...

I know there's one or two that are more well suited for our tanks because they only get 6-8" max but I cannot remember which one. Also, LiveAquaria has a rare blue Squamosa coming in on Diver's Den tonight. Looks very pretty.

I've seen in person a 16" deresa that was 10+ years old. Other than that I duno max sizes.

Below is info I got from Skinz78, he's a mod a major clam head. I was interested at one point getting a clam so I was firing questions at him.

"Maximas and croceas are the most light demanding of the giant clams. They are also the smallest, croceas get about 6" and maximas get about 10" in captivity. They are usually found up on the rocks."

Here are the 'max sizes' that the clams can get
Most of these sizes are only obtainable in nature... but still possible in home aquarium if you provide a big enough tank

crocea up to 8"
maxiama up to 12"
deresa up to 36"
squamosa up to 36"
gigas up to 60"
hippopus up to 12"

Sounds about right but I've seen croceas at wholesalers larger and maximas that size at wholesalers.
