I picked up a small Derasa this week. I kind of want to re-arrange my sand bed around it. My father was a geologist / science teacher and had a TON of sea shells and coral skeletons in his collection. I used what appears to be an old Maxima type shell to keep it propped up.

It seems to like to lean into my Purple Gorg as well over those. I love this thing already.

Can I keep Acans around it? I don't know if they will sting or not. But I would love to kind of have the clam as a centerpiece around a garden of coral.

Choose Micromussa Lord over Acan Enchinata. Micromussa is the newer name for what we used to call Acans. Acans Enchinata can pack a powerful punch to any near by corals and inverts.

Thanks all! I mainly keep Micromussa Lord, but I don't have a full sand bed or anything. Clam has growing room, Micromussa is shaded, hoping the low light will color them up again. New Lobo is sitting up front and pretty! Feeding time cell phone FTS...Clam still prefers the forward facing gorgonian kickstand.

What brand Phyto should I look into for supplemental feeding? My phytofeast is running low, should I stick with that or get some liquid?

Great choice for a first clam, they are very flexible and forgiving with lighting and water parameters when settled in. I think that phyto can help it recover from shipping stress a bit better, but I doubt that its necessary in the long term.

I think its best to keep it far enough from the feeder tentacles so that they don't bug the clam at night.

Phyto Feast is a fine choice to use, I used it for a while, and had health benefits for the entire tank.
