So I noticed this guy today after I did a water change and stirred up some sand and probably some detritus.

I never noticed him before, as I thought it was part of the live rock. I'm guessing he is attached and won't ever move. My concern is, if he dies will he cause a nutrient spike in a small 7 gallon system?

Well it probably would, when he dies if he does I would just use like a oyster knife or something to peel him off shell and all.
