I have this little guy attached itself to an awkward position, do I need to dig down and try to cut it out?

The par there is around 130, and it is not up right.

That is strange. Any way you can just rotate the rock so the clam is facing up? How long has it been like that.

Thank you for replying! The rock has an elongated shape I am not sure if it would be stable.

I just got it yesterday and I placed it on the rock. This morning I found it moved itself to the current location.

I think it is about 30 degrees facing upward

Should be easy to cut the byssal threads since it just attached if needed. Cut as close as you can to the rock. You can also leave it be for now and see how it goes.

Thank you! I will see how it looks after I get home from work today. If needed I can take the rock out and cut the byssal threads with a razor blade.

Update: the day before yesterday I took the rock out and carefully cut the little clam loose. I positioned him in a new place upright and next morning he kind of attached laying down again. I pushed the rock in the picture away from him so that he has more mantle exposed to light, and came the next day he was more upright which is good but a small part of mantle is blocked by the rock. Now I am hesitant to disturb him more.

It mostly settled down to the spot, still sometimes I found it changed position a little bit during the night, once even climbed to the shell of the larger blue Maxima. It seems to me smaller clams are more likely to move around
